That was priceless! Had me laughing out loud. Moved from XP to Internal Hardware - Hamluis. OK, thanks, and hopefully someone can help me with this! I really want to use my lovely speakers with my new computer, or just get some sound from the system speaker, if that's all I can get.Įdited by hamluis, 30 August 2013 - 02:44 PM. He showed me the system when I bought it, but I honestly do not remember if the sound was working or not.

Oh, and the guy I bought it from seems like a good guy and would help me, only he's off on a vacation to Acapulco. Since there is almost nothing on the new computer, it might be easy to find a conflict. I suppose there might be a conflict somewhere, but I would not know where to look. So, I ended up with about five copies of the fixit program and four copies of all the other stuff it wanted me to download to run it, and it never would run, so I trashed all of that.

I tried to install the Microsoft "fixit" software, but it doesn't want to run, it only wants to tell me to install something else. The installed troubleshooter can't find a problem.

According to what my system tells me, all devices are working correctly.

The drivers are current, every box is correctly checked, the i's dotted and the t's crossed. Not from the system speakers, not from my external speakers. So, the new system is Dell with Pentium D Dual Core, 2.86 GHz, 4 G Ram, 500 G HD, running Windows XP Pro SP3, Sound is SoundMax Digital Audio - however, there is no sound.

I needed something that would still run XP, since I'm not ready to upgrade some of my software - can't afford to buy new licenses and refuse to pirate. So, I found a refurbished computer on Craigslist and for the first time in many years, actually paid money for a computer! I've always taken others' giveaways. My backup service was telling me it couldn't do any more backups, and my old system was running so slow, I could literally have a coffee break in the time it took for a new browser tab to open. The time finally arrived when I was forced to get a "new" computer. I have tried a BIOS upgrade and using a known working task sequence for a different model (even though it would have the wrong drivers).Hi gang! You've been so helpful before, maybe you can help me figure this one out.

The report just says it is still running the task sequence and nothing has failed. The next thing on the list is Install Software Updates and then all of the software. This is where it gets stuck in the boot cycle. From lookingĪt the advertisement report in the SCCM console, it looks like it has completed: The new way works for all of our other computer models (all dell), but we keep getting the same problem on the GX620s. We createdĪ new task sequence for the "better" way of imaging, using the OS install package and pushing out updates drivers and software. We just recently imaged about 100 computers of this model and about 10 of them would loop the startup cycle (Windows XP). We used to be able to image fine when we used WIM files. I don't know if anybody else has had a problem with this model.
